Good evening everyone this is your news recap. I hope you all had a wonderful day mine was pretty solid! Anyhow let’s get into the news.
TRUMP ADMINISTRATION
Tom Homan can no longer live with his family because of hate
Trump’s border czar Tom Homan said in a new interview that he and his wife are not currently living together because of death threats he has received for enforcing Trump’s immigration policies. Homan said on the “Pod Force One” Podcast, “My wife’s living separately from me right now, mainly because I worked for many hours, but mostly because of the death threats against me. I see her as much as I can, but the death threats against me and my family are outrageous.”
Maybe if he wasn’t helping to destroy families and communities we wouldn’t have this problem. Look, threats to someone's life are crazy, I myself have experienced them on multiple occasions. But I mean he’s essentially ignoring the reason for these threats. What do you expect when you destroy peoples lives. This administration is creating enemies of the state yet they’re all to blind to see it.
New bill requires all undocumented immigrants who aren’t detained to wear GPS monitoring
The GOP’s new Homeland Security Funding bill would require undocumented migrants to wear GPS tracking devices and demoralize alternative detention according to Migrant insider. This would even include asylum seekers and students. This is not the first time the DHS or ICE has done this as last they used wrist trackers. Last year, ICE issued 3,000 wrist-worn “Veri-Watches” to keep constant tabs on asylum-seekers. This would be used to track people who are currently in the citizenship process.
That's insane. Do we really need to track people in the citizenship process? That’s creepy for one and if they’re following the law to become citizens what's the point. Sounds like a waste of taxpayer dollars and it’s weird.
Trump calls for democrats to be prosecuted
In a new post on Truth Social, Trump has called for the prosecution of Democrats who “leaked” information on the strikes on Iran. In his post he wrote, “The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the PERFECT FLIGHT to the Nuclear Sites in Iran. They should be prosecuted!” Trump seemingly is referring to the Strikes on Iranian Nuclear facilities which were not fully destroyed.
Who hasn’t Trump called to be prosecuted at this point? He just can’t get over the fact that he failed to destroy a nuclear site that shouldn’t have been attacked in the first place. What does he expect most people don’t agree with they’re going to call him out for being wrong like anyone would. You can’t just prosecute people for disagreeing with you.
The Trump administration plans to send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to another country
A day after a Judge ruled the outlines for Abrego Garcia's potential bail the Trump administration has started a new movement to send him to a 3rd country. But a government attorney told US District Judge Paula Xinis that, should Abrego Garcia be released on bond, the administration will seek to deport him to a country other than his native El Salvador. At a Thursday conference US District Judge Paula Xinis asked the government’s attorney, Jonathan Guynn, about the Department of Homeland Security's intentions after the Tennessee court issued Abrego Garcia's release order as expected. He would reply that the DOH would send him to a third country other than El Salvador and there was no timeline for doing so.
We’ve put this man through enough hell yet the Trump administration continues to attack him for no reason. It’s gross. Give him a break. This is unnecessary.
OTHER NEWS
Supreme Court says planned parenthood can't sue over funding cuts
The Supreme Court has in South Carolina ruled that individual medicaid patients cannot sue for their own provider. In 6-3 decision the court has agreed with the State The law says that “any individual” insured through Medicaid “may obtain” care from any qualified and willing provider. Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote for the majority that Medicaid recipients do not have the right to sue to enforce that provision. This ruling allows the state to prevent planned parenthood from receiving funding through medicaid. South Carolina will now join states like Texas, Arkansas and Missouri.
I think this a dumb idea. People should have the opportunity to pick a provider that best suits them rather than having one forced. Not every program suits your needs at the end of the day this could just make it harder for people to get the care they need.
Medicaid provisions slashed setting back republicans
Republicans in the Senate have experienced major setbacks to pass their spending bill. The Senate parliamentarian, who plays a key role in determining what provisions can stay in the fast-tracked bill, said the GOP must change how states can tax Medicaid providers and does not adhere to rules for passing the bill with a simple majority. Democrats who opposed the bill and pushed for the slashing of this provision have called this one a big win win. According to Karoline Leavitt Trump still expects to pass the bill by independence day. Leavitt said "He knows this is part of the process and the inner workings of the Senate," she added. "He remains very much engaged in these conversations and in this process with lawmakers in both the Senate and the House side, and the whole White House does as well."
This bill shouldn’t be passed plain and simple. It negatively impacts so many within the United States and likely will set back multiple years. It’s gonna be a problem now and in the future.
US Treasury asks Congress to scrap foreign revenge tax in Trump bill
The Treasury department has asked congress to scrap a provision in Trump's “Big, Beautiful budget bill,” that would allow Washington to raise taxes on foreign investments. Scott Bensett said that the provision was no longer needed because he had secured concessions for US companies to the new OECD global minimum tax regime. The section 889 would allow the US government to impose retaliatory taxes on companies and investors from countries that it deemed to have punitive tax policies. Bessent said the US had reached an “understanding” with other members of the G7 group of leading nations, which dominate the OECD, which would make Section 899 unnecessary.
This is an interesting situation. I’ll be honest I don’t know much about the OECD tax regime but I’m sure this isn’t too harmful? I’ll have to do more research but I don’t think this is the worst.
Republican congress for deportation of Zohran Mamdani
Some Republicans are calling on Trump to revoke Zohran Mamdani’s citizenship and deport him. The New York Young Republican Club said on twitter, “The radical Zohran Mamdani cannot be allowed to destroy our beloved city of New York.” The Group urged the president to invoke the Red Scare-era Communist Control Act to yank Mamdani’s citizenship and “promptly deport him.” Even multiple Republicans have called for this Andy Ogles of Tennessee being one calling Mamdani a “anti semitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York.”
I think we need to sit back and talk about what communism is because I strongly believe that most Americans truly don’t understand what Communism is. As defined by Karl Marx, the creator of the ideology, “Communism is a stateless, classless society characterized by common ownership of the means of production and distribution based on the principle of "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs". There is no true communist nation in the world because it would be essentially impossible to accomplish. Mamdani is a socialist which as defined by Karl Marx is a transition but is also a society where the working class has seized political power and aims to eliminate class distinctions and exploitation. They are scared of him because he genuinely wants to help people.
